Solemn Liturgy of the Passion of Our Lord
We met today to commemorate and remember the Passion of Our Lord, who died that we might be forgiven. The service began with the reading of the Passion according to St. John. This was read with various parts taken by readers, and Fr Paul reading as the person of Christ.
After the homily and prayers of intercession we were invited to venerate the cross with a kiss. The cross being the sacred symbol of the death of our Lord and ultimately his resurrection.
Today is the only day of the year that no mass is celebrated anywhere in the world. Instead we partook of the sacred hosts consecrated during the Mass of the Last supper yesterday.
