Confirmation, reflection and prayer…
Our confirmation group have been meeting regularly preparing for their confirmation. As part of this preparation they have been considering ways to reflect and pray. Prayer is at the core of Christian life as it was the foundation of Jesus’ life. Prayer is the raising of one’s mind and heart to God, maybe the requesting of good things from God. But prayer is also about allowing God to speak to us. To listen to Him.
There are many ways to pray as Christian, indeed many ways just within the catholic tradition. This can include praying while reading scripture as in the Ignation tradition, or praying the rosary which is a reflective, meditative prayer. Prayers can be made as an offering to God, an act of worship, expecting nothing in return. In this way many catholic prayers are titled as an act, as in an ‘Act of Contrition’, or ‘Morning Offering’ prayer.
