Bishop’s Patrick’s Visit…
This weekend has been a very busy one. We have welcomed Bishop Patrick to all three of our communities and masses at The Church on Oakwood, St. Hugh Borrowash and to St. Alban’s.
Over the last months at St. Alban’s we have enjoyed walking with our ten confirmation candidates (who are drawn from all three communities) through their preparation journey. Like all Christians they are on a pilgrim journey, in confirming them today at St. Alban’s Bishop Patrick sealed them with the gift of the Holy Spirit. In his homily, he encouraged them to each and every day make a personal prayer to Holy Spirit. In this daily prayer he encouraged them seek the Holy Spirit’s guidance through the day, whatever challenges the day may hold. In doing so each will open themsleves to the fullness of God and allow the seven gifts of the Holy Spirt to be manifest in them.
We wish them well on their pilgrim journeys, we thank all of the people who have worked to make their celebration this weekend a very special one.
We will post more pictures from the confirmation celebration, why not check back in a week or so…or better still sign up for updates, that way you’ll never miss a post!
Also during our celebration Bishop Patrick awarded two of our parishioners the St. Hugh of Lincoln medal. It is an award from the Diocese of Nottingham to recognise long standing commitment to serving the people of God and His Church. Both recipients, Peter Peak and Ronnie Smith have over the years put in considerable service and continue to do so.
