One can express admiration no more eloquently than to say that this was exactly Mgr. Hargreaves as one knew him. Few Parishes can have started life more happily than St. Alban’s; the prayers of its founder will be directed to its continued and true prosperity”.

The constant concern of the Parish Committee to get a priest of their own had still not found fulfilment. From the opening of the Church, Chaddesden had been consistently looked after by Fr. Patrick Snee, then a curate of St. Mary’s. Just before Christmas 1955 it was decided to replace him at St. Mary’s, and to let him come to live in the new parish - as a kind of interim......
