St. Alban's Church

Our Previous Church Buildings

The Hut

These two pictures are of the original hut which was installed on the current site in 1948.

The Hut Inside The Hut

The first picture of the outside of the hut was taken in 1948, and the inside was taken in 1953.

For more information about the early days of the Parish of St. Alban, have a look at the Silver Jubilee pages, where we have reproduced the booklet which was published in 1981.  Page 5 describes 'The Hut'.

The New Church 1955

St. Alban's foundation stone was laid in October 1953 and the Church was officially opened in June 1955. More information about the opening ceremonies is available on page 9 of the Silver Jubilee Booklet.

The descriptions refer to 'liturgical' east, the altar as the reference is therefore taken to be facing 'east'.
